Botox: Not Just for Women Anymore

By April 28, 2018August 16th, 2022No Comments

Think only women are getting Botox? Think again. According to a recent study from the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the number of men getting botulinum toxin injections (commonly known by their brand names as Botox, Dysport and Xeomin) is up 258 percent over the past decade.

So whose getting Botox: typically men between the ages of 35 to 65 years old, usually in white-collar professions or the art world, with high incomes. Where are they getting Botox: most of the time in their brows and around their eyes, three to four times per year.

It’s just a fact, men have become more proactive about their appearance, once they try Botox, they look better, feel better and believe it gives them an edge in business.

Men are realizing what women have known for a while: Botox is quick fix with no downtime, but they also want to keep their competitive edge in a very competitive job market. Youthful appearances have always been in high regard in our society, and that does not seem to be changing.

The key with injectables is not overdoing it – you want to be sure you keep looking like yourself. Discuss the effect you want to achieve with your doctor, and take before and afters so you can see how it’s working.

There isn’t an exact time that anyone person knows when to go in for injectables. Everyone ages differently – that’s where a good relationship with your dermatologist is key, one who you feel comfortable bringing up your concerns and questions.
