The Benefits of Coolsculpting

Just about everyone wants to loose a little bit of that stubborn fat. You’ve tried exercise and diet, and but are still getting the results you want. There is a relatively new procedure called CoolSculpting; a non-invasive procedure that freezes away fat. It especially effective on the stubborn muffin top.

In simplest terms, CoolSculpting is a non-invasive procedure that freezes excess fat cells, causing them to die and gradually be eliminated by the body. Extreme cold affects fat cells in a way that leads to improved body contours.

The concept of cold affecting fat cells was first noticed in the 1970s, when a group of children in Russia who frequently sucked on popsicles developed fat loss in their cheeks. Doctors were at a loss as to why these young, otherwise healthy kids had lost youthful fat in their faces, until they connected the dots and realized the perpetual popsicle habit was to blame. Over the years, this odd finding was analyzed and eventually caught the attention of scientists who studied the process of cryolipolysis, which refers to freezing fat. Years of testing and research led these doctors to develop the CoolSculpting machine as a safe means of reducing minor accumulations of excess fat. We know, strange but true.

CoolSculpting has minimal downtime and lasting results:

Unlike many other procedures, CoolSculpting takes very little time (1 hour per treatment area) and is pretty easy to fit into your daily life.  You just need to schedule usually a half-day off work or your usual activities for your non-surgical fat reduction treatment.  Following CoolSculpting, you can resume exercise the very next day and re-enter your activities of daily living without any restrictions.

Each CoolSculpting treatment lasts one hour (the time you might spend at the gym) – except rather than just burning a few calories and hopefully reducing some fat stores by expending energy stored in fat cells, CoolSculpting fat reduction is permanent! . So you can easily fit your appointment into a lunch break.  After just one treatment, you will notice a significant reduction in fat (approximately 25%) in the treated area.  These effects can be seen as soon as 30 days after a CoolSculpting treatment, with approximately 70% of the total effect by 2 months, and the “final, final” results by 4 months.  It takes several months to fully appreciate these changes, because it takes that long for your body to naturally dispose of the fat cells via “apoptosis”, or natural cell death that is then cleared by the body’s natural cleaning systems.

  • You’re within a few pounds of your ideal weight range and can “pinch an inch” (or two)
  • You have noticeable fat bulges in the abdominal area, such as the lower abdomen (fat that sits above the waistline) and sides (love handle area)

  • You’re not expecting instant results (it takes two months for full results)
